An explanation for the absence of defender Ethan Pinnock from Brentford’s squad to face Watford this evening has been provided online.
Hornets clash
Thomas Frank’s side are of course set to return to action shortly.
In the first of the weekend’s Premier League fixtures, the Bees have welcomed relegation-battling Watford to London, eyeing a return to winning ways.
Brentford have managed just a solitary victory across the club’s last eight league outings, two weeks ago versus Everton.
Such a concerning stretch of form has seen the capital outfit, on the back of a stellar opening to the campaign, slip to a lowly 13th in the English top-flight table.

Pinnock’s Covid diagnosis
As alluded to above, however, Brentford’s efforts to get things back on track courtesy of a three-point haul this evening have, ahead of kick-off, been dealt something of a blow.
This comes in the form of the absence of star defender Ethan Pinnock from the club’s matchday squad:

Concern, in turn, quickly spread amongst the Bees’ fanbase, with an explanation for Pinnock missing out on Friday, initially, having not been provided.
Amid an already worrying situation at the club, key goalscorer Ivan Toney is also sidelined at present, owing to a bout of Covid-19.
And, as confirmed by Premier League expert Ben Dinnery a short time ago, the same can now be said of Pinnock.
The stopper faces a spell in self isolation over the coming week, after too returning a positive Covid test over the last couple of days:
Ethan Pinnock has tested positive for COVID-19, the reason behind his absence this evening.
