On Saturday, March 22, 2025, a fire broke out at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park in Orlando, Florida. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at the “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” attraction within the France Pavilion, leading to the evacuation of visitors from the ride.

The blaze originated in a backstage area of the attraction, producing dark black smoke that was visible throughout the park. Emergency responders swiftly contained and extinguished the fire, ensuring that all guests and staff were safely evacuated without any reported injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Videos shared on social media platforms captured the extent of the smoke and flames, with footage showing significant black smoke billowing between the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride and the Morocco Pavilion.

EPCOT, one of the four major theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort, was hosting its International Flower & Garden Festival at the time of the incident. Despite the fire, other areas of the park remained operational, and guests were able to continue enjoying the festival and other attractions.

This incident is among several recent fires reported at Disney parks. Notably, in 2023, a fire involving the Maleficent dragon figure occurred at Disneyland. Additionally, in October 2022, a fire broke out during the “Harmonious” fireworks show at EPCOT, which was quickly contained with no injuries reported.

Walt Disney World officials have not provided further details regarding the extent of the damage or the anticipated timeline for the attraction’s reopening. Guests planning to visit EPCOT in the near future are advised to check for updates on attraction availability and park operations.

The safety and wellbeing of guests and staff remain the top priority for Walt Disney World Resort, and comprehensive safety protocols are in place to manage such incidents effectively.
